Greetings Race Fans,
Chocolate at Fairmount:
After a grueling schedule of 13 races in nine months, at eight different tracks in six states,
Cocoa Bandita was given a well deserved three month respite. Our dark chocolate filly with the bold white face returns to the oval on Saturday, June 4, at Fairmount Park. Her only race at Fairmount was an Allowance victory on August 22, 2015. She followed that up with second place finishes at Churchill Downs and Hawthorne. Her last start was a 5th place effort at Hawthorne on Jan. 1, 2016, prior to her winter break.
We have observed Cocoa getting ready for her return, with trainer Dawn Martin, at Fairmount Park. Our filly has been “into the bit,” full of herself and a real handful for her exercise riders. Bandita rarely lacks effort in training but when the jockeys “screw their hats on” for race day, the first time back can be challenging.
Up and coming apprentice jockey, Brooke Stillion, gets the mount on CB in Race #6 beginning at 9:55 pm. There are seven fillies and mares entered in this Allowance/Optional Claimer going Six Furlongs. The purse is $8,600 with an additional $3,096 for Illinois foals. Cocoa leaves from the outside #7 post as a (12/1) long-shot. #4 What’s In A Name and #2 Chanceymeetinuhere are the (5/2) co- favorites. Cocoa will bring her striking good looks and considerable attitude to the party on Saturday night.
Feel free to join us as “Chocolate Returns To Fairmount.”
Wager Well!
