The $15K Dark Chocolate Bar
Greetings Race Fans,
Bissinger caught the eye of opposing owners and trainers and was taken for the $15K claiming tag at Laurel Park on Sunday afternoon. Our dark chocolate bay ran a troubled 6th as he was unable to find a comfortable position outside of horses. Our quirky journeyman just does not “fire” when sandwiched between horses. Jockey Lane Luzzi is aware of his uneasiness but found no space to swing him wide. Maureen and I were at Keeneland, in Lexington, Ky, watching our bay on simulcast.
Bissinger can be productive with a perfect trip but his connections have become increasingly frustrated with his timidness in traffic. Our focus now will be to get our latest acquisition, Summer Classic (by Summer Bird), race ready. Our disappointment was somewhat eased when Maureen and I gazed at Hallie Ruth and her new filly (by Northern Afleet) frolicking in the pasture at Niknar Farm. Bud’s Bandita also had a date with Warriors Reward at Spendthrift Farm and Hallie with Northern Afleet again at Taylor Made. If both mares are pronounced pregnant on their 16 day check, all will return home prior to Derby Day in May.
Wager Well,
Mike
