Scratch and Go

Greetings Race Fans,

Summer Classic was “scratched” from his race on Wednesday, July 13 at Delaware Park. Trainer Tim Ice discovered that Classic had banged his left front leg on the stall door the night before and was still sore on race day. It was disappointing to all of the SC partners because this was an ideal opportunity to determine if he could run successfully on turf.

Cocoa Bandita, however, is raring to “go.” Our four year old filly is entered in race #1 at the Indiana Grand Race Course on Friday, July 15 beginning at 2:05 pm (EST). Rodney Prescott gets the mount and will leave from post #4 in the six horse field.

Four different horses are bunched between (9/5) and (9/2) morning line odds. Because of the results in her last two starts oddsmakers have given CB no shot at (20/1).

What the experts have not factored in is that the starting gate mishap at Fairmount Park and the poor jockey effort at Churchill were not her fault. If Cocoa is given a good trip and honest effort, she could make this six furlong challenge very interesting.

The race is worth $14K with a $10K claiming tag. We are sad that Classic “scratched” but are hoping that Cocoa will be full of “go!”

Wager Well,
Mike
