Summer Runners…Some Are Not

Greetings Race Fans,

We will find out soon if Summer Classic, our most recent acquisition, is a runner or not. Our 3yo gelding had his only start on Oct 30, 2015 at Gulfstream Park West. The Florida bred, who had been neglected, was recovering from an illness when we discovered him in Lexington, Ky. We partnered with Tim Ice to purchase the son of Summer Bird who Tim trained during his 2009 championship 3yo season.

Summer Classic is entered in Race #7, at Penn National, on Saturday, May 14. Post time is 8:43 pm (EST) in this Maiden Claiming Race going One Mile And Seventy Yards on dirt. Andrew Wolfsont gets the mount as the pair leaves from the #8 post in the eight horse field. #2 Killer Whale is the (2/1) morning line favorite while #7 Summer Classic is the (5/2) second choice. He leaves from post #8 because of the #1 and #1A coupled entry. Summer Bird is considered a “Classic Winner” because he won the 2009 Belmont Stakes. We will find out on Saturday if Summer Classic has inherited any of his sire’s ability. After all…Summer Runners, Some Are Not!

Wager Well,
Mike
